In the women’s basketball system, the people are represented by two separate, yet equally important, groups: the fans, who cheer on their favorite player; and the ethical hater, who prays on their downfall. These are their stories.
Rubs temples

Hello everyone. Don’t mind me, it’s just been a very busy and messy week so far, and I have multiple monitors going all at once. The WNBA has chosen to crank up the drama to max and from a content
perspective, I’m thankful. From a person who tries to disconnect from their phone but still has FOMO, this is a disaster!
But let’s get into who’s on the CCTV this week.
In Case You Missed It (& What’s On Tap)
Andrew and Tyler discuss the Skylar Diggins drama with the Chicago Sky…
LOS ANGELES SPARKS
The Sparks are in one of the biggest media markets in America yet have somehow been allowed to fly under the radar and be an abject disaster in peace. Not on my watch!
Ok, so backing up to the 2023 draft, they lose the Paige Bueckers Sweepstakes but get Cam Brink and Rickea Jackson. Brink gets hurt and Jackson gets…I don’t know what you called what Lynne Roberts did but it wasn’t effective or helpful to her development. Jackson dips via trade and the Sparks somehow get older and more mid. In fact, the Sparks continue to get midder by the day, the hour even. Cam’s hurt again and so is Kelsey Plum so you could possibly give this team grace in that area, but you traded for Ariel Atkins who is giving you a whopping 8.1 points per game to go with 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
That’s not exactly going to cut it.
You then loaded up on Gamecocks and didn’t use them. Which, ok, fine, you hate us. Whatever. But then you don’t really seem to have a plan for what’s going on. Just stink and stink out loud. Now everyone can smell you and
nobody has any real answers for the direction of this team. On top of that, you got Nneka Ogwumike to return home to stare this mid in the face. We’ve seen people fired for less, so the clock is ticking on everyone over in LaLa Land.
SKYLAR DIGGINS AND THE CHICAGO SKY
The Chicago Sky were already under surveillance, but now they’re under the 24-hour kind as they decided to have a family argument right before company comes over.

A week before they host All-Star weekend, Skylar Diggins hit social media to announce she found out she’s being benched and is less than thrilled about it. That she chose to put we, the viewers, in the group chat of their drama is
actually mind blowing. This is a 35-year-old woman in her 11th season. She should not be acting like this. It’s wildly unprofessional and just an overall bad look from someone who, if we’re being honest, hasn’t won enough or at all to
be doin all of this.
They lured you in with the idea of a practice facility and that hasn’t transpired.
Ok, fine, I’ll give you that.
But again, as previously mentioned, in an early edition of Under Surveillance, you followed money into a sewer and know your complaining of the smell and conditions. It just doesn’t make sense. She’s rocked the boat in Dallas over
piss poor conditions for working moms and I was with her. Same in Phoenix. But this is pretty much a reheating of Angel Reese’s nachos with less tact and clear vision on what the desired outcome is. Grow up and tighten up.

On the flip side, Diggins was seen speaking with Jeff Pagliocca earlier this week before practice and then she’s listed as out due to a knee injury right before Tuesday's game against the Mercury. The Sky have no idea what to
do with Skylar which is incredibly stupid because they did all that tee heeing about not wanting to piss her off and I guess now you realized you’re not a competent enough franchise to not piss her off? Yeah both parties look goofy,
and will be monitored closely.
CHENNEDY CARTER AND LAS VEGAS ACES
Ok this last situation isn’t as much slander as it is genuine confusion. Chennedy Carter was waived Tuesday and we’re once again left with no concrete answers.
Everyone’s immediate go-to is to cite how this is the fourth team she’s had issues with and make it sound like it’s a her problem, but I’m going to go into detail on why I don’t think those first two stops were all on her. Which leaves
the third and fourth stops and since one of this is the aforementioned Chicago Sky, it makes it hard to completely blame her once again. Whiiiiiich then leaves
the fourth stop, the Las Vegas Aces.
Things publicly got shaky when Chennedy goes on another unnecessary tirade following the Dallas Wings game and then we start to see a string of DNPs due to “illness.” While not squeaky clean, the Aces reputation is on that will be rewarded the benefit of doubt in the court of public opinion. Regardless, all parties are being monitored.
The UConn Huskies (Because Why Not)
Geno Auriemma has been speaking and I’m gonna be honest, I’m not reading all of that nor am I sorry it happened to him. He was then rewarded for re-
antagonizing black women (me and Dawn Staley specifically) with his own fun night during the Liberty Wings game and all I’m going to say Paige, your
problematic grandpa is on the loose again and you need to speak up! I will be awaiting a statement!
