Happy Friday, Ball-Knowers!
It’s been a few Fridays since we’ve gotten you a real life Newswire and I’m happy to report that it is indeed back. For those that need a refresher, it’s our way of consolidating not just our work, but the incredible work of other women’s basketball media members big and small for you to enjoy. Think of it as a small antidote to the Balkanization of media that threatens to hinder small creators and centralize the attention economy around singular bloviators.
In the meantime, allow us to give a shout to the Women’s Premier Basketball Association, or WBPA, that begins their season in the Bay Area this Saturday. Much like Upshot, the WPBA serves as a secondary league on the women’s basketball pyramid. It’s a way for those that aren’t in the WNBA to make a name for themselves and put themselves in a position to make a roster someday…
If you’re in NorCal and want to support grassroots women’s basketball, you can get tickets on Saturday by clicking the link here and tickets for Sunday by clicking right here. For everyone who purchases a ticket to opening weekend, we are entering them into a drawing for 4 season passes. Kids under 12 will be allowed free entry this weekend with a paid parent ticket too.
There’s a couple of promotion codes too for those that want to grab some games this weekend! Use code WPBA10off for $10 off ANY ticket on opening weekend while WPBA30OFF gets you up to 30% off opening weekend tickets. So check it out and be a Ball-Knower In Real Life!
