The college season may be over, but conversations surrounding South Carolina’s guard development have not slowed down.
The Gamecocks have earned plenty of nicknames throughout its rise to becoming one of the premier programs in women's college basketball: Post Player U, Hardware U, and Pro U.
Pay attention to the last one because it may be the most important title of them all.
Over the past few seasons, a growing narrative has suggested that South Carolina does not properly develop guards. The conversation has become so loud online that, at times, players are evaluated more by aesthetics, statistics, and social media discourse than by actual professional preparation.
But flashy numbers and viral highlights do not automatically equal pro readiness.
That is where the conversation surrounding South Carolina often loses context.
