On the edition of Tales From The Beat, we welcome Thomas Costello, WNBA writer for The Next and NCAA writer for Land Grant Holy Land covering Ohio State, to discuss the new wave of expansion in women’s basketball.

Thomas has been on the Ohio State beat for some time, writing about the Kevin McGuff era and the various Buckeye teams that have contended for Big Ten championships in recent years. He recently was one of the first reporters to break the news that the WNBA would be adding Cleveland as an expansion franchise.

He and Andrew discuss whether or not the city and state are prepared and ready for a WNBA franchise. Dan Gilbert, the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, has said on record that he plans on heavily investing in a women’s team. Is he being honest and will he be a good owner? Thomas sheds some light on Gilbert’s reputation as the Cavs navigate a post Lebron era. The show wraps with a quick discussion on the Ohio State Buckeyes and where Kevin McGuff goes from here.

As always, let us know what you like and don’t like and how you see Cleveland as a new franchise city for the W!
