On this edition of Tales From The Beat we welcome in Marisa Ingemi, the USBWA’s Rising Star award winner this year and sports writer for the San Francisco Chronicle, to discuss the Golden State Valkyries and her long experience covering women’s sports.
Marisa spent portions of her career covering the NHL for the Boston Herald and Seattle Times before arriving at the Chronicle to write about women’s sports. In her role, she regularly covers Bay FC, Stanford and Cal women’s basketball and now works the beat for the Golden State Valkyries.
She and Andrew discuss some early impressions of the Valks through the first few days of training camp, media access and how it varies between leagues, the nuances of covering the NWSL vs. the WNBA and what they’re expecting to see out of the league’s newest expansion franchise.
As always, let us know in the comments if you like the show format, what guests you might want to hear from or what stories we should take a deeper dive on.
