To be a championship contending team, oftentimes you will need stars. You don’t often see teams go all the way without at least one.
But you also need players that know how to star in their role. Especially when they can star in whatever role is requested from them on that day.
The Oklahoma Sooners have stars. Raegan Beers was All-SEC First Team last season amongst several other accolades on her resume. Aaliyah Chavez has really begun to come into her own with her scoring. Payton Verhulst has been All-SEC Second Team and All-Big 12 First Team.
But when I left Oklahoma City following #9 Oklahoma’s win over #23 Oklahoma State in Bedlam, I wasn’t thinking about the stars. I was thinking about the player who starred in every responsibility given to her, Sahara Williams.
