Before the playoffs even started, Chelsea Gray was locked in.

Warming up on the floor of T-Mobile Arena before the Aces late regular season game against the league-leading Minnesota Lynx, the Vegas veteran guard was at ease. For months, she’d taken her share of digital arrows from members of the media, opposing fanbases and even her own.

“Had the Point Gawd finally lost her final step?”

She didn’t think so but the signs seemed concerning. Her assist numbers were way down, she wasn’t shooting as well and managing the game with the sort of calm that made her a multi-time WNBA champion. So Gray took some time to reflect.

Then, she walked into Becky Hammon’s office.
