What. A. Game.
It is easy to write off early games as just that, early games. This one felt different. We just got WNBA playoff basketball in May between the Liberty and the Fever.
Starting with the winners, the New York Liberty. Phoenix and Connecticut…what have you done. How did you let this team get Natasha Cloud?? If you created the exact point guard you would want for this Liberty team from scratch, it would be Cloud. The defense, the energy, the distribution, just an absolute perfect fit. And then you know the rest of the stars for the Liberty such as Jonquel Jones who also had a great game dropping with 26 points on an super healthy 9/15 from the field.
Now the Fever. I said in the season preview that if Aliyah Boston can reach an All-WNBA level up that it could make all the difference for this team’s title hopes. Should…should I have said MVP? Because this was MVP level today. This is still without her being heavily involved in most actions as well! The Fever took a punch, and even on a rollercoaster of a Caitlin Clark performance, punched back. While a loss is a loss, there is no doubt about it. The Indiana Fever are contenders.
