On this episode of Ball Up Top: A WBB Podcast, Andrew and Tyler break down Team USA FIBA Americup title, DeWanna Bonner's move to Phoenix and their biggest shock of the WNBA season.
I feel like we all need to accept that the rookie transition was massively overblown because of people wanting to downplay Caitlin. Rhyne, Aliyah, and CC all had quick transitions to the W. People cite Sabrina and Plum but they both had extenuating circumstances. With Charli Collier being an obvious exception, it’s very rare for a #1 pick to not pan out at all. I think it was just a convenient way to downplay CC because people were mad she was winning and getting media attention in college.
This commentary after Paige’s recent game is hilarious and I’m sure not planned 😂Paige also isn’t helping her team win yet, let’s see how the second half goes
The real CC effect is every good player getting put in the conversation with her 😂 Framing her as “Caitlin with ball security” leads out a number of factors, such as Paige’s lower usage, Dallas’ slower pace, and the sorts of passes Caitlin makes. If, like you said, Paige was getting wins and Caitlin wasn’t I’d get the critiques, but that’s not the case.

“you can’t bring you anywhere” is a hilarious comment
