This week is about the basketball. We discussed some of the larger cultural issues at play when it comes to the Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark vs. Angel Reese rivalry on Five Out already. So the podcast is dedicated to providing a space to get away from the thinkpieces for a little while.
With that said, we do open the show with a quick discussion and accountability session regarding a choice to run with some unconfirmed (and so far unfounded) rumors on our Saturday postgame show on YouTube. We’ve handled the matter internally, created some processes to make sure we don’t get caught up in the outside noise and have treated it as a learning experience for all involved. The old journalism adage is that it takes a long time to build credibility and an instant to burn it, so we hope that a little transparency will help you understand our commitment to doing things the way we’ve always set out to.
Now, to the basketball. There’s so much to discuss. We open the hoop talk with a bit on the new look Fever and honor DeWanna Bonner reaching third on the WNBA’s all-time scoring list. Also on the docket? The New York Liberty and what constitutes a juggernaut, is it time to start monitoring how much of a superstar Rhyne Howard really is and whether or not we are on Arike Ogunbowale trade watch.
